CCDs have been widely used in the field of astrometry. The development of CCD applications to the large telescopes and meridian circles in the past ten years is reviewed. The authors discuss three main problems that still exist in this kind of applications, and propose some methods to solve them. The solution of these problems will make more progress in accuracy and efficiency of ground-based astrometry.
