We applied a simple method to extract one-dimensional fringes from a Fabry-Perot interference pattern imaged onto a CCD detector. The fringe pattern contains the Doppler information of laser light back-scattered from the atmosphere in a lidar experiment that was performed at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico. In order to improve the signal-to-noise, a total of three fringes, each containing the same spectral information, were imaged. We describe the analysis used to extract information like the spectral widths and shifts which are related to the temperature and winds of the atmosphere.
