It is confirmed experimentally that causal analysis makes it possible to determine the direction of the irreversible flux (diffusion) of information. This possibility was demonstrated using electric-field measurements in a coastal zone, where the direction of diffusion at low frequencies is determined by sea currents. Further, the method was applied to areal magnetovariational measurements in the ocean (the EMSLAB experiment). A causal grid is constructed, the node order of which is related to the longitudinal conductivity of the sedimentary cover.
