A method to determine the recombination coefficients for ceramic materials in pure oxygen plasma is described. In addition, a new procedure for the in situ determination of the spectral emissivities of high temperature materials is presented. Values of the recombination coefficients for six different materials applicable for TPS applications are determined and compared with literature data. Spectral emissivities of the investigated materials are presented and compared with values obtained by other researchers. The obtained results are being used for the development of catalytic sensors in the frame of the European re-entry program EXPERT.
