A generalization of the Ostrogradsky method of bringing the higher-derivative theory to a Hamiltonian form suitable for use in gauge theory is presented. The constrained Hamiltonian formulation is developed for all five variants of R2 gravity, and the representation of the generating functional of Green functions in the form of the Faddeev-Popov path integral with a nontrivial local measure is obtained. In all five variants of the theory, the local measures differ from each other and from the measure in general activity. A general expression is derived for the local measure in Bose theories coupling with gravity.
