Photometric measurements of about 300 stars within 15 arcmin of one of three nearby PN, obtained using an iris photometer on Asiago Observatory 90-60-cm Schmidt-telescope UBV plates, are presented in tables and graphs and analyzed. Extinction-distance relations are established on the basis of the data for a number of highly reddened OB candidates, and the PN distances are estimated as 500 + or - 150 pc or 2.0 + or - 0.5 kpc (depending on the extinction value accepted) for SH 1-89, 1.6 + or - 0.5 kpc for NGC 7048, and 2.5 + or - 1 kpc for M 1-77. The lines of sight toward these PN are characterized by onset of dust extinction at about 400 pc and a dust-free zone out to about 1.5 kpc.
