Brown Dwarfs, Young Stellar Objects, Star Forming Regions: Ρ Ophiuchi
Scientific paper
We present here a selection of results obtained on the ρ Ophiuchi star forming region, where several brown dwarf candidates were observed in the ISOCAM SW1, LW1, and LW4 filters. Such candidates had been previously identified in near-infrared ground-based searches. The new ISOCAM observations are essential in allowing a reliable decomposition of the different factors determining the shape of the emergent spectral energy distribution, and a much more robust determination of the intrinsic parameters of the central object becomes possible. Three of the sources observed by ISOCAM are shown in this way to be very likely young brown dwarfs.
