The present investigation is concerned with the suggestion made by Gunn (1977) that, with the right initial conditions, dissipationless secondary infall could produce profiles as shallow as 1/(square of r). In connection with 21 cm and optical studies of the rotation curves of disk galaxies, it has been found that extensive regions with a flat or even slightly increasing rotation curve are common. If the mass is spherically distributed, then this implies a density profile proportional to 1/(square of r). The most important result of the current investigation is that numerical simulations of secondary infall do not produce the flat rotation curves which are observed. A simple model of the infall is introduced. This model produces a final density profile but shallower than the numerical simulation's final profile.
