The precise determination of a polarization signal in Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) would give a power- ful insight into their nature and mechanism. Using RHESSI data, a high degree of linear polarization in GRB021206 was reported by Coburn & Boggs (2003), but was recently contradicted by a reanal- ysis (Rutledge & Fox, 2004). We present a novel approach. By filtering events in energy, time, and scattering geometry we identify Compton scattering candidates suitable for polarization search. The in- strument's polarimetric sensitivity is obtained from simulations. For GRB021206 we find no signifi- cant polarization. But the statistical errors are so large that even a 100% polarised GRB would make a signal compatible with the data. We also anal- ysed GRB030519B, with similar results. Finally, we discuss the requirements for a GRB that could be searched for a polarization signal. Key words: Gamma Ray Burst; Polarization.
