An examination is made of the method of obtaining reddenings from a formula involving log P, the mean U-B and the mean B-V. It is concluded that there are better ways of deriving the formula, but it still contains little information not already given by the mean period-color relation. The formula therefore may not give accurate reddenings in many cases.
