Red shifts can turn blue and blue shifts can turn red in real
astrophysical situations involving magnetic neutron stars. It is also
possible for red shifts and blue shifts to be emitted simultaneously
from the same object. With this general relativistic effect, the red
shift may be arbitrarily large but the blue shift cannot exceed 1/2.
