It is noted that a mass in excess of 0.01 solar mass may be distributed as comets in the inner region of the Oort cloud (50 to 20,000 AU) and would be undetectable by present methods. A technique for observing these hypothetical comets is suggested which is based on monitoring a number of stars with a vidicon system for occultations by the comets. The number of stars that could be successfully monitored in this way is estimated, and some technical problems associated with the proposed technique are discussed.
