Since the Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) Variability Experiment (EVE) instrument on NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) went operational on 1 May 2010, solar spectral irradiance data in the EUV are now available within minutes. EVE data are potentially important for forecasting coronal mass ejections (CMEs) using associated coronal dimmings. Some flares exhibit coronal dimming, which is the darkening of a coronal feature near the flaring region of the Sun. Dimmings can be due to a change in temperature; however flare-related dimmings are usually associated with mass lost from CMEs. Because EUV radiation from flares are first observed up to days before CMEs arrive to Earth, they have the potential to be an useful tool for CME prediction. Coronal dimming and CME relationships are studied using EVE and coronagraph data. We determine properties of the coronal dimming using EVE measurements of Fe IX coronal emissions (17.1 nm, 0.65MK). Using coronagraphs images from SOHO, STEREO-A, and STEREO-B, we calculate the velocity, angular width, and mass. Furthermore, the EUV SpectroPhotometer (ESP) channel on EVE can be used to provide the location of the flare.
