The recent downward revision of solar abundances has serious implications not only for the Sun, but for distant stars as well. The effects of altering the mixture of elements inside a star and lowering the overall metallicity on stellar oscillation frequencies are tested on theoretical models of a CoRoT primary target star, HD 43587. It is found that although frequency separations are significantly affected by changes in the chemical makeup, it might still be difficult to distinguish between the two cases of solar abundances because of the ambiguity in the fundamental parameters, such as effective temperature, luminosity, and [Fe/H] of the target star.
