This poster presents a progress report on the Tully--Fisher (TF) calibration effort of the Hubble Space Telescope Key Project on the Extragalactic Distance Scale. Our calibration is based on Cepheid distances to ~ 25 spiral galaxies, including 15 galaxies observed with HST as part of the H_0 Key Project. We have measured BVRI magnitudes and inclinations for all of the TF calibration galaxies from ground--based observations. In addition, we have compiled a list of HI linewidths from the literature. Our strategy is to combine these data, calibrate the TF relations, and then apply them to distant cluster samples of Giovanelli et al. (I--band) and Aaronson et al. (H--band), measure their distances, and thus determine the value of the Hubble constant. We also are investigating several secondary issues relating to the calibration and application of the Tully--Fisher method, such as: (i): any dependence of the TF relation dispersion on wavelength, (ii): the effect of the TF relation slope error on the value of H_0, (iii): any systematic effects in the TF relation of galaxy color, luminosity, and/or metal abundance; (iv): cluster population incompleteness bias, and its effects on H_0.
