We present calibrations of the Solar X-ray Imager (SXI) and X-Ray Sensor (XRS) on board the GOES spacecraft. In October, 2004 and August, 2005, sounding rocket underflights were undertaken with the Avalanche X-ray Spectrometer (AXS) to provide reference or "solar truth" spectra. These reference spectra will be used as inputs to parametric models of SXI and XRS performance. The output from these models will be compared to the response functions of the GOES instruments and the model parameters will be adjusted to optimize the fit to the observations. Noise, contaminating signals, and secondary effects such as vignetting will also be considered. This calibration effort will increase our understanding of SXI and XRS instrument response functions and will improve the accuracy of space weather forecasting.
