Burangulov et al. (1974) have shown that a numerical model based on primitive equations and heat transport equations reproduces such basic experimentally observed characteristics of the Venusian atmosphere as small temperature constrasts at the day and night sides of the planet, the vertical nonuniformity of potential temperature, and the increase in wind velocity in the upper layers of the troposphere. In the present paper, the model is improved by introducing a more detailed radiation scheme developed with allowance for new experimental and theoretical data and an improved convection scheme, and by extending the number of computational levels to twenty.
