The results of calculations of the parameters of meteoroid ablation are presented. The calculations were performed on a computer using formulas obtained earlier by Bronshten (1981, 1982). The formulas were derived by solving the problem of simultaneous melting and evaporation of meteoroids. An investigation is made of the changes in ablation in gaseous and liquid phases, coefficient of gasification, thickness of the molten film, and the coefficient of heat transfer from the initial conditions: velocity, dimensions, and composition of the meteoroid, and the density of the atmosphere. It is concluded that ablation in the liquid phase plays a fundamental role for iron meteoroids, and a substantial role for stony meteoroids. The results are compared with those of other authors, and also with experimental data.
