Fried Parameter R0, Site Selection, Atmospheric Turbulence

On utilizing standard meteorological radiosonde data in the years 1986-1995 , the Fried parameter ro are calculated by means of the model of Tatarskii over 10 regions of astronomical observatories and potential astronomical sites in China . The annual mean ro at ground and at the heights of 900m, 1500m, 3000m, 5500m above sea level are given. On the height of 3000m above sea level the seeing quality over Lijiang in winter and over Jiuquan in Summer, is the best respectively. That corresponds to the Seeing quality over Dingri at the height of 4301m above sea level.
