Rotational velocities in a sample of Bok globules have been observed to lie in the range of 0.3 to 0.8 km s-1pc-1. These appear to be too small to contribute significantly to gravitational stability, although the directions of rotation show a tendency to align with the galactic plane. Observations of blue skewed 12CO line peaks suggest that accretion of material is taking place in some globules.
