Recent photometry of Phi Per is combined with unpublished photometry from the last 10 years. The results show three kinds of variation: (1) a long-term change in average brightness of approximately 0.05 V magnitude over 6 yr; (2) night-to-night variability of up to 0.05 mag; and (3) abrupt minima of about 0.1 mag in amplitude. An association is found between the phases of minimum light, increased strength of the sharp hydrogen-absorption cores, and the ascending branches of the radial-velocity curve of the sharp hydrogen-absorption cores. The light minima appear to be caused by periodic variations in the opacity of the circumstellar material, not eclipses or intrinsic stellar variation. Disk and gas-stream models of the circumstellar material are considered in relation to the photometry.
