The few observations of bulges available suggest a bi-modality in their properties, feature we have also found in high resolution hydrodynamical simulations in a cosmological context. The latter gives important information about bulge formation processes, facilitating the comparison with available observational data, as well as serving as guideline for future observational strategies. We conclude that in this particular field, there is much need for more in depth observations of large samples in order to distinguish among the variety of possible bulge formations paths.
