We present the result of near-infrared spectroscopic observations on the
radio galaxy 3C 22 (z=0.937). Contrary to the previous classification of
this object as a narrow-line radio galaxy, we report the clear presence
of a broad Hα line, showing directly that at least some powerful
radio galaxies are simply reddened quasars.
