Developed with funding from an IDEAS grant, the eight-page color brochure ``Visitors from Space" was distributed to 300 classrooms around the country in the Spring of 1997. This brochure invited Comet Hale-Bopp into middle school classrooms as the subject of timely and accurate science information conveyed in a popular style. Coordinated by the NOAO Educational Outreach Department, this highly collaborative effort brought together professional educators, scientists, authors, and writers with middle school students. We will describe how the brochure was developed, produced, and distributed, emphasizing lessons learned and project elements that can be replicated elsewhere.
