Theme of the book is the visual brightness of a planet in dependence of its motion. Important is the distance and the phase. A good example are the planets Mercury and Venus that have not the extremum visual brightness at smallest distance. Both planets achieve the extremum visual brightness with thick crescent form in telescope. First the visual brightness will be calculated generally. Many values of radiation are taken into consideration. Then two examples follow that are similar to sun, earth and Venus. It will be clear how important are suitable abbreviations. This book is for all who are interested in astronomy.
