The N^+^ inter-system lines, 2s2p^3^ ^5^S_2_-2s^2^2p^2^ ^3^P_2,1_, at 2142.775Å and 2139.007Å in air have been observed in emission from a low-pressure inductively-coupled plasma. The measured ratio, A_2143_/A_2139_=2.27+/-0.23, overlaps the most recent calculation at 2.44 (Brage et al., 1997ApJ...478..423B). A realistic analysis of uncertainties, and comparison with other laboratory measurements which do not agree with each other, demonstrates the difficulty in obtaining a more precise measurement.
