Interstellar polarization measurements play an important role in our understanding of the geometry of galactic magnetic fields. It is therefore necessary to explore how the dynamic evolution of the geometry of the magnetic field could effect observations of interstellar polarization. The formation of superbubbles and blowouts should have a dramatic effect by creating areas with vertical magnetic fields in the disk of the galaxy. To investigate the impact of this process, we used a newly parallelized 3D MHDTVD code based on Ryu et al 1998 (ApJ, 509, 244) to model the development of a large superbubble in the disk of a typical spiral galaxy. We then used the model results to generate synthetic observations of interstellar polarization and investigate how the growth of vertical fields in the galaxy affects the integrated, line of sight interstellar polarization. This work can then be compared to galaxies that show elevated activity in their disks and lower polarization than expected. This work is supported in part by the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute.
