Current (and near future) short pulsed lasers deliver relativistically intense electromagnetic waves. This opens up an unprecedented opportunity to recreate astrophysical conditions in a terrestrial laboratory. For example, the atmosphere near the blackhole horizon is thought to be superhot and consisted of electron-positron plasmas. We examine the possibility of such a plasma creation and some of the properties of this plasma. In particular we examine the possibility of mode conversion of Alfven waves into electromagnetic waves in this atmosphere and associated acceleration that may give rise to X-ray bursts upon collisions with the surrounding matter. The Alfven waves may be excited by a mechanism such as sudden accretion of destabilized matter near horizon. In addition, we examine possibilities of attaining general relativistic physical conditions based on the future laser technology.
