In this paper, the bivariational principle is applied to the problem of radiation transfer from an inhomogeneous dispersive medium. A plane-parallel geometry with a space-dependent albedo, generalized boundary conditions, and internal energy source is considered. The two bounding surfaces are gray and opaque and reflect radiation diffusely and specularly. Formulas are given for the reflection and transmission coefficients, and numerical results are given for a sample case.
