The splitting for forbidden NII 6583 A and Hgamma along the minor axis of M82 is shown on the basis of data currently being reduced at the Queen's University of Belfast. The blue component is found to be more intense than the red to the north of the galactic disk, while to the south the red component is more intense. The central region (about 10 arcsec) of the N II forbidden lines does not originate close to the nucleus, but from a region some distance into the disk.
