The Biographical Encyclopedia of Astronomers is nearing completion and should serve as a valuable resource for historians and astronomers alike. The work is expected to be published in two volumes in 2006, and will include approximately 1500 biographical sketches on astronomers from antiquity to modern times. This status report will summarize the project, the collective work of about 400 authors edited by an editorial board of 9 historians and astronomers, and will provide additional details on the nature of an entry and some summary statistics on the content of entries.
