A binary star model is used to account for the 16.5 d flaring behavior
of the radio emission from Circinus X-1. Mass transfer between the
primary star and the compact companion star triggers one or more
expanding Eddington luminosity-driven shocks in the vicinity of the
compact star which, in turn, produce radio emission.
