If the O-C diagram of a pulsating star exhibits sine wave cycles, the natural explanation is that the star is a member of binary system, and the light-travel time (LTT) effect gives rise to apparent period changes. The physical parameters of the pulsating star offer constraints on the possible orbital elements deduced from the LTT effect. In fact, other effects may produce cycles in the O-C diagram as well. A critical discussion is given on the binary member candidates based on their O-C diagram. Special attention is directed to the high amplitude δ Scuti stars.
