Deep color magnitude diagrams of the loose globular cluster E3 are presented. The high-precision photometric measurements show a clear-cut secondary sequence of stars which runs parallel to the main sequence (MS) and is interpreted as composed of binary systems. A preliminary analysis of the radial distribution of binary candidates in the cluster shows that they have a more centrally concentrated distribution than single MS-stars in the inner two core radii from the cluster center. Accurate analysis of the data will provide the first large sample (N > 100) of binary candidates in globular clusters.
