The BATSE observation is seriously biased against identifying classical gamma-ray repeaters with the relatively large positional uncertainties and incontinuous sky exposure. The traditional methods of identifying repeating sources by positional coincidence alone are insensitive to low-frequency repeaters. By studying the temporal and spatial correlation in burst positions and arrival times, we have found a significant excess in burst pairs which are clustered in space and time in the first BATSE catalog. This strongly suggests burst repetition at the 4σ level. We further make predictions for subsequent BATSE burst samples and compare them with the second catalog. However, the data gaps in the second catalog do not allow a significant test of the prediction. The third BATSE catalog with more accurate burst positions is necessary for testing the existence of classical gamma-ray repeaters.
