Intercosmos measurements of wideband upper-atmospheric emissions including the first harmonics of the electron gyrofrequency are examined. It is shown these emissions may be due to the excitation of electrostatic oscillations of the plasma electron component in the neighborhood of the satellite (electron-cyclotron radiation and Bernstein modes).
