The topography of Venus made available through radar data of the Pioneer Venus is discussed and compared with the earth's topography and that of other planets. The three different geological regions which include the upland plains, lava-filled plains, and continents are reviewed in relation to their chemical compositions and the hypotheses which describe the possible formations of these regions. The size and location of geological regions and features are given. The possibility of plate tectonic activities on Venus is considered in view of the available evidence.
