Three previously unpublished reports dealing with the early stages of the Canadian VLBI experiment are presented. The papers were written in 1965 and outline the theoretical principles for operating a VLBI. The papers cover topics such as the use of a long baseline radio interferometer to measure quasar diameters, the idea of recording data on video tape, and the correlation of receiver signals by time-scale expansion.
