We analyze beats of slow magneto-acoustic and Rossby waves propagating in different directions as a possible mechanism of the formation of the magnetic cyclicity of the Sun. The dispersion law derived in terms of linear magnetohydrodynamics unambiguously indicates the presence of beats in the system. We demonstrate that the periods of such beats vary from 9 to 13 years.
