Active Galactic Nuclei-Γ-Ray-Radiation Mechanism

Scientific paper

This paper gives a physical explanation of the high-energy γ emission (30MeV-10GeV) measured in 3C279. From the physical process of γ ray absorption in the γ-γ production of electron pairs, we derive the constraint that relativistic beaming effects must extist in the X-ray and γ-ray emitting regions. We calculate the high-energy γ-ray spectrum generated by inverse Compton emission and point out that, for a high-energy cutoff of the electron spectrum γmax > 105, inverse Compton spectrum of the observed low-energy spectrum of 3C 279 can account for its observed γ-ray spectrum.
