The anthropomorphic assumption that because our own society uses
electromagnetic radiation (based upon Maxwell's equations) then so do
others as advanced as ourselves, is averted. The assumption that
extraterrestrial intelligence exists a priori is likewise averted by use
of the conditional probability.
