The BAT wide-field hard X-ray coded aperture telescope on Swift performs some 60 slews per day to/from fixed targets in addition to (and including) its occasional rapid slews to GRBs. We have implemented an analysis capability to process the event-mode data from BAT and produce wide-field sky images from individual and stacked slews. The primary motivation has been to extend the sky coverage and sensitivity of BAT for GRBs: simulations showed that some 10-30% more GRBs from Swift could be detected by including these slew data. The BAT is on and recording event-mode data during slews but previously these events were not brought down. Tests with a preliminary slew processing system on limited slew data made available in late March, 2007, revealed the first GRB detected solely from slew data, GRB070326 (Copete et al 2007, GCN6563). The full pipeline for rapid processing of slew data to enable the BAT Slew Survey (BATSS) has now (January, 2008) been constructed (Copete et al 2008) and is nearly ready to go "live” to enable ground-command slews to BATSS GRBs within 3h. BATSS will also provide temporal coverage for transients and bright (>30mCrab) flares of known sources with its 1-2h per day of event mode data (all other BAT data, apart from GRB profiles, are "survey-mode” with 7min time resolution). Individual and co-added slew images and lightcurves will be available on a public website. An overview of the processing capabilities and pipeline, and early results from partial (8h coverage per day) slew coverage now in operation (since Nov. 1), will be presented.
