The predominant horizontality of the velocity vector and the anticorrelation of velocity and magnetic field, which are characteristics of field distributions in solar active regions, are presently explained in terms of a simple model that takes into account the physical conditions at the photosphere in active regions. Attention is given to the coupling between magnetic field and velocity regions.
