The recently measured angular diameter of Barnard's Star, together with its large and precise parallax, and a spectral energy distribution that extends from the ultraviolet to almost 12 μ m establish some of the star's fundamental properties: its bolometric luminosity, radius, and effective temperature. Accurate knowledge of these parameters leads in turn to useful constraints on its metallicity and mass. Effective temperature estimates obtained by other, less direct methods are compared with the definitive result.
