The abundance of barium has been determined in a large sample of metal poor giants drawn from the sample of Bond (1980, ApJS, 44, 519). Atmospheric parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity, microturbulence) have been determined in a systematic manner to provide consistent results over the range of temperature ( 4000 <= Teff <= 6500K ), luminosity ( -2.8 <= Mv <= 1.5 ) and metallicity of stars in the sample, and an empirical relation among temperature, luminosity, and microturbulence has been determined. Our results confirm a large scatter in the barium abundance as a function of metallicity.
