The effects of the bandwidth on both the color excess and the ratio R = A(v)/E(B-V) are presently investigated by combining the energy distributions of 85 stars with the transmittance of B and V filters and with an interstellar reddening law. Since the color excess and ratio effects both depend on the stellar spectral type and quantity of absorbing matter, corrective formulas are developed which can allow for these effects.
