The present status of the balloon-borne telescope Thisbe 1 is the result of continual rebuilding and improvement. Up to now 11 stratospheric flights have been performed. The gondola was recovered virtually undamaged after all flights. Four telescopes for observations from the ultraviolet through the infrared region were developed for Thisbe. Results of observations of the zodiacal light, galactic center, and airglow are presented. Further observations with Thisbe 1 are in preparation. A new highly stabilized balloon-borne telescope is being constructed.
