Markarian Galaxies
Scientific paper
I present a tale on my sentimental journey to the Byurakan Observatory in Armenia. This obervatory is very famous because Dr. B. E. Markarian made a historical survey for blue galaxies, the so-called Markarian galaxies. As a matter of fact, the first galaxy that I observed is Markarian 297. Therefore, the Byurakan Observatory is one of special observatories for me. Fortunately, I was invited to give a talk in the conference on AGN Surveys (IAU Colloquium No. 184) held at the Byurakan Observatory in June 2001. It is may pleasure to introduce this observatory for Japanese astronomers.
