NGC 3379 is a large E1 elliptical in the nearby Leo Group (d ~ 10 kpc). Because of its proximity, it was possible to reach 2 magnitudes past the expected peak of the globular cluster system luminosity function using the KPNO 4-m telescope. A field of 18 arcmin around NGC 3379 was observed in B, V and Cousins R passbands containing essentially the entire globular cluster population. Luminosity functions, colour distributions and surface density distributions of the cluster system are presented.
