The B[e] supergiants in the Magellanic Clouds form a subgroup of 15 massive stars showing the B[e] phenomenon. The properties of the B[e] supergiants can be explained in terms of a two-component stellar wind model. From their position on the H-R diagram it is clear that B[e] supergiants are in a post-main sequence evolutionary stage. Recent observational results on several B[e] supergiants with relevance to the question of an evolutionary connection with the luminous blue variables are discussed.
